NEW TECHNOLOGY MAKES INEXPENSIVE,
HIGH-QUALITY PHONE-TO-PHONE CALLING via
THE INTERNET A REALITY

Monumental Breakthrough Shifts Paradigm for
Long Distance Calling

Rockville, MD - Today, commercial-quality telephone calls on the Internet became a reality when LATIC, a newcomer to the long distance market, announced it has cracked the code on Internet-based phone-to-phone calling.

Dr. Jerry Lin, president and CEO of LATIC, said the company has spent the past three years developing the new Internet telephony technology.  It will enable regular consumers to use their existing telephone handsets to deliver high-quality, inexpensive Internet phone-to-phone long distance service.

To date, the fledgling Internet calling industry has been plagued with poor quality and the need for expensive computer equipment and software to originate and, in some cases, terminate calls.  The level of quality on computer-to-computer Internet calls has been likened to ham-radio operations which became popular in the 1940's as a way to reach international destinations.

LATIC's industry-changing technology uses standard telephones, commercially-available local telephone lines, LATIC Internet Gateway servers, and Internet packet switching technology to change telephone calls into digitized bits and transport them among domestic and international destinations.

Labs of Advanced Technologies International Corporation (LATIC), based in Rockville, Maryland, is the nation's newest entrant to the Internet industry.  The company was formed in 1993, as a technical research and development firm to focus on new telecommunications and computer systems technologies and product development.  LATIC is privately held by Dr. Jerry Lin.
